Meet the Rabbis

Our panels of Rabbis has been carefully selected to bring the best of Jewish knowledge to you. Each Rabbi studied Judaism, Jewish History, Jewish Culture and is a recognized communicator and teacher in his or her community.



Rabbi Shmuel P. Bogomilsky

Rabbi Bogomilsky has been the Rabbi of Mount Sinai Congregation in the Ivy Hill section of Newark, NJ for the past 40 years. He is well known as a Halachic master and sits on Beit-Dins reguarly. He is the author of numerous Halachic works, and is constantly in demand to answer Halachic questions from around the world.


 

Rabbi Mendy Carlebach

Director, Chabad House of South & North Brunswick

Rabbi Carlebach is a graduate of The Central Yeshiva at 770 Eastern Parkway (Chabad Lubavitch headquarters) and the Rabbinical College of Australia in Sydney where he received his ordination (semicha). He has spent many years involved in outreach work, and was the Rabbi for Sydney2000 Olympic Games in Sydney,Australia. Rabbi Carlebach also led 2001 Passover services at the US Air Force base in Tokyo,Japan. In addition to serving as Chaplain at the 2004 Republican National Convention in NYC, Rabbi Carlebach was chosen to represent the Jewish community at the National Day of Prayer observances at the White House in May, 2006.


 

Rabbi Yosef Carlebach

Education: Received education at the Rabbinical College of Canada, Montreal, followed by intensive study at Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ. Received Bachelor of Religious Education Degree, September 1974. In 1975 was among group of ten students sent by the Lubavitcher Rebbe to Yeshiva Torat Emes, Jerusalem. During their 2-year stay, they established youth groups, summer day camp and numerous other educational projects including special programs for foreign students at Hebrew University. Ordained as a Rabbi at Central Lubavitch Yeshiva, Brooklyn, New York, September 1978.

Positions Held: Executive Director – Chabad House Lubavitch of Central and Southern New Jersey.

Develop, direct and organize youth activities and educational programs at Rutgers University and in over 100 communities throughout the state of New Jersey. The Chabad House is proud to serve as the largest Chabad House in the U.S.A. and the largest Jewish Center on any public university campus. In addition, responsible for foundation and operation of 8 additional community youth and outreach centers in Ocean, Manalapan, Edison, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Elberon and Monroe Twp.

Rabbinical Positions: Spiritual Leader of Congregation Sons of Israel in Wayside, NJ. Spiritual Leader of Chabad House Jewish Student Center, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ.


 

Rabbi Boruch Goodman

Campus Rabbi

Occupation: Spiritual Engineer, Soul Consultant, specializing in souls that have frozen, crashed or just need to be rebooted with an occasional spiritual upgrade, Baruch and Sarah Goodman are the Rutgers Rabbi and Rebbetzin, bringing the light and warmth of Judaism in the thousands of Jewish undergraduates and graduates students in and around Rutgers University .

Born in the Bronx, NY, and educated at Chabad’s Rabbinical College of America, Rabbi Goodman was hoping for an exotic rabbinical position in maybe New Hampshire or Hawaii, but instead found himself in New Brunswick, New Jersey!  Sent by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in August of 1988 to serve under Rabbi Carlebach at Rutgers, Rabbi Goodman enjoys spending his time wrapping Tefillin with Jewish guys, jamming on his guitar with the Chabad Band “Nice Jewish Boys” at the weekly Tuesday Night Campus Café, and singing and learning at the Shabbos table on Friday Nights at Chabad with over 500 guests per weekend.  Sarah Goodman, educated at Bais Chana in Minnesota and Machon Chana in Brooklyn, NY, enjoys organizing women’s learning groups on campus, spending time with college women, baking challahs and desserts for Shabbat, and training thousands of students to one day run a household and family of their own .

Rabbi Baruch and Sarah Goodman are popular personalities and teachers of Jewish thought and practice on the college campus. Their understanding of Torah and Chassidus, together with their warmth and sense of humor, make them an approachable and inspiring couple. They reside with their children in Highland Park, NJ .


 

Rebbetzin Sarah Goodman

Rebbetzin Goodman, educated at Bais Chana in Minnesota and Machon Chana in Brooklyn, NY, enjoys organizing women’s learning groups on campus, spending time with college women baking challahs and desserts for Shabbat, and training thousands of students to one day run a household and family of their own .

Sarah Goodman is popular personalitig and teacher of Jewish thought and practice on the college campus. Her understanding of Torah and Chassidus, together her their warmth and sense of humor, makes her an approachable and inspiring individual.

 

Rabbi Laibel Schapiro

Rabbi Schapiro is a graduate of Ohelei Menachem Institute of Brooklyn, NY.  After spending a year as an apprentice rabbi in Budapest, Hungary, Rabbi Schapiro received his rabbinical ordination from the Central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY .

From 1999-2002, Rabbi Schapiro led adult education classes and holiday awareness workshops in Metairie, LA ; Honolulu, HI; Los Angeles, CA and Atlanta, GA . 

Since 2002, Rabbi Laibel Schapiro has been directing Chabad of the Shore of Monmouth County.


 

Rabbi Yehuda Spritzer

Director, Chabad House of Monroe

Rabbi Spritzer is a graduate of the Chabad Yeshiva in France, and the central Chabad Yeshiva in 770 Eastern Parkway (Chabad World Headquarters), and received his ordination (Semicha) from the Chief Chabad Rabbi of France. He has spent many years being involved in Jewish outreach, and was the Rabbi of Maplewood, NJ for a while before settling in Monroe Twp.
